I began my investment journey by buying my first stock in 2007 (in India).
My first books on this subject were related to technical analysis.
Coming from a computer science background, I started formalizing various strategies and backtesting them (this eventually turned into my 1st start-up, and I also learned about hedge funds).
I wanted to study further and work in a hedge fund. I moved to the US, did my MBA in finance, was elected as portfolio manager for a $2 million student-managed fund, and worked at a hedge fund.
Coming from India, I ran into visa renewal issues and had to move out of the US. I got back to the tech/start-up world and put a pause on my investing journey (in 2012).
Over the next ten years, I had a few successful start-ups.
In 2022, I was introspecting on my strengths, weaknesses, and what I wanted to do next.
Accidentally, I stumbled across the book — “Buffet: The Making of an American Capitalist.” After that, I read a ton about Charlie Munger and Buffet.
I could connect the missing dots, and I realized what I wanted to do next — build a Berkshire Hathaway in my circle of competence!
